Introduction to Wooden Sleepers
Wooden sleepers are sleepers made of wood. Wooden sleepers must be crafted from tough, resilient timber. Based on their application, wooden sleepers are classified into ordinary sleepers, switch sleepers, and bridge sleepers. The standard length of an ordinary sleeper is 2.5 meters, and its cross-sectional shape is available in Type I and Type II, tailored for different track classes. Since the invention of railways, wooden sleepers have remained in widespread use. In the early days of railroading, constrained by low levels of economic development and technological advancement but abundant timber resources, wooden sleepers were the norm. To this day, wooden sleepers continue to dominate North American railways. However, due to inherent drawbacks such as susceptibility to decay, poor track stability, and non-uniform elasticity, wooden sleepers are generally not employed in high-speed rail systems.

Insulating boards, also known as insulating rubber mats, insulating pads, insulating shims, and insulating blankets, are widely used in substations, power plants, distribution rooms, laboratories, and on-site live-line operations. The structure of an insulating board requires that both the top and bottom surfaces be made of rubber insulating material free from harmful irregularities. Harmful irregularities refer to defects that disrupt the uniformity and smooth surface profile, such as small holes, cracks, localized protrusions, cuts, inclusions of conductive foreign matter, creases, gaps, uneven corrugations, and casting marks.
